SUPER LIGHTWEIGHT SENSATION JOSESITO LOPEZ READY FOR DALLAS, JR.
Friday, January 28
ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights”
Orange, CA – In less than a week Thompson Boxing Promotions’ Super Lightweight Josesito Lopez (28-3, 16KOs) will take on Mike Dallas, Jr. (17-0-1, 7KOs) for the vacant NABF Super Lightweight title as the opener of the January 28 Arreola-Abell ESPN Friday Night Fight card that will emanate from Pechanga Resort and Casino.
The Lopez-Dallas stand off is an exciting prelude to the highly anticipated “Super Fight” between WBO Junior Welterweight Champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KOs) and WBC Super lightweight champion Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KOs) that will take place just one day after on Saturday, January 29, at the Silverdome in Pontiac, MI. The battle for world title unification will be televised live on HBO World Championship Boxing, beginning at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT.
Josesito Lopez, who is co-promoted by Thompson Boxing Promotions and Goossen Tutor Promotions, took time from his training schedule to reflect upon his upcoming bout. Here is what he had to say:
How is training camp going for the fight?
This is the best training camp so far in my career. I have had a lot of skillful sparring partners with great skills. I have had ample preparation and did some of my training in my hometown of Riverside and closing it out in Houston TX.
Did you having to relocate to Houston in the middle of training camp have any effect on you?
It was a good experience. It is really the same kind of training that I do in Riverside except I had a lot more sparring partners, which helped me prepare.
What can we expect to see this coming Friday?
You can expect a great fight. Know that I am going to give 110%.
You are battling it out against an undefeated fighter for a title, is that intimidating for you?
Not intimidating at all, it is motivating. It is really an advantage for me to be in the ring with Mike Dallas, Jr. because I know exactly what I have to do in there to win, and I know that I am going to give it my all. He has never been in the ring with a fighter like me; I guarantee that. I am going to take him into the rounds where he will have to dig deep down.
What does you training consist of?
My training is the same as what I would have done when I was training in Riverside. The only difference is that I do all of my gym work in the morning and my roadwork and conditioning in the afternoon. When I was in Riverside, it was opposite of that.
The event is promoted by Goossen Tutor Promotions. Tickets prices start at $35 and are available at www.pechanga.com, directly at the Pechanga Box Office daily from 10am to 10pm, or by calling 1-877-711-2WIN. Doors open at 5:00 PM. First Bout is at 6:00 PM.
