Jean Pierre “Kid Creole” Augustin Shines in Pro Debut!
Weirton, WV (February 9, 2014) – Cruiserweight prospect Jean Pierre “Kid Creole” Augustin had a strong showing yesterday evening in his pro debut, dominating veteran Michael Davis over four rounds at the Serbian American Cultural Center in Weirton, WV.
Augustin, who hails from Lawrence, MA and is of Haitian heritage, was in control from bell to bell, landing hard shots while clearly dictating the pace. Augustin buzzedDavis in the first and fourth rounds, each time with straight lefts, but the game Ohioan finished the fight on his feet.
All three judges scored the bout 40-36 for Augustin, who is now 1-0.
“It was a great experience to get my first fight out of the way,” said the 26-year-old Agustin, who won the Pan American Game Qualifiers in 2011. “There were definitely a lot of emotions going through my mind in the fight and leading up to it since there was no more headgear and rounds were three minutes instead of two. Everybody in attendance said I fought well but I think there’s always room for improvement. I’m going to watch the film with my team and work on getting better the next time around.”
Augustin’s second pro bout is scheduled for February 20 at the Holiday Inn inFogelsville, PA, with two more fights tentatively scheduled for March.
