Bangkok, Thailand: ONE Championship™ (ONE), the world’s largest martial arts organization, celebrated International Women’s Day with a historic card at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium. ONE Fight Night 20: Todd vs. Phetjeeja featured a series of compelling all-female martial arts bouts, including a showdown for the undisputed ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title.
ONE Championship, in partnership with leading premium lifestyle and luxury performance brand TUMI, presented the prestigious ONE World Title belt to the World Champion.
In the main event, interim titleholder “The Queen” Phetjeeja Lukjaoporongtom put together a dominant performance against divisional queen Janet “JT” Todd to unify the ONE Women’s Atomweight Kickboxing World Title.
The 22-year-old Phetjeeja capitalized on her speed from the start of the fight, connecting with head kicks and clean right hands. Todd did her best to counter from range but failed to deter the Thai phenom from coming forward.
Although the 38-year-old Japanese-American veteran tried her best to establish a rhythm, Phetjeeja intensified her offense in the succeeding rounds, skillfully maneuvering in and out with precise strikes.
“The Queen” then sealed the win in the final frame when a counter right straight landed flush, sending Todd to the canvas for a standing eight-count.
All three judges scored the contest in favor of Phetjeeja to win by unanimous decision and become the undisputed World Champion. Todd then made her retirement official by leaving her gloves in the ring following an emotional speech.
In the co-main event, ONE Women’s Atomweight Muay Thai World Champion Allycia Hellen Rodrigues retained her gold with a unanimous decision win over former ISKA Atomweight K-1 World Champion Cristina Morales.
The talented strikers produced an intense five-round battle to the delight of the Lumpinee crowd. Morales immediately came out with a high-pressure attack, forcing the Brazilian queen on the back foot. Rodrigues eventually gained momentum by strategically targeting her Spanish opponent’s midsection.
The defending World Champion maintained control and relentlessly connected with powerful combinations. Morales was tough until the end, but Rodrigues’ commanding display was enough to earn the nod from all three judges, solidifying her victory on the scorecards.
