ANAS AZIZOUN WITHDRAWS WITH REPORTED ILLNESS, NEW COMBATE GLOBAL MAIN EVENT – KEVIN GARCIA VS. ALBERTO MONTES

 KEVIN GARCIA VS. ALBERTO MONTES – ANNOUNCED FOR THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 22, LIVE ON FUSE FROM MIAMI

LOS ANGELES AND NEW YORK – June 20, 2024 – Shortly following the withdrawal of previously announced main event fighter, Kayla “Kayrock” Hracho, due to injury, newly scheduled main event fighter, Anas Azizoun, has reportedly fallen ill and been forced to step out of his COMBATE GLOBAL featherweight (145 pounds) main event commitment against Kevin “El Prendido” Garcia (10-4) who, instead, will square off with Alberto “The Promise” Montes (6-1) on Saturday, June 22, live on Fuse (9 p.m. ET/PT) from Miami.

Montes is a 30-year-old native of Caracas, Venezuela and a two-time veteran of COMBATE GLOBAL action.

The Venezuelan import has been living in Miami, and training under Coach Asim Zaidi, the head of the fast-growing Goat Shed Academy fight squad.

Montes, a black belt in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Tae Kwon Do, was last seen in COMBATE GLOBAL action on September 16, 2023, when he submitted American Adam “Kid Solo” Ortiz via d’arce choke in the first round (2:09) of their matchup.

In the previously announced women’s atomweight (105 pounds) co-main event, two-time national Karate champion Andrea Meneses (5-2) will face off with unbeaten striker Janet Garcia (2-0).

The 27-year-old Meneses from Gava, Spain holds a black belt in Kyokushinkai Karate and is a member of Team Uppercut, the Barcelona-based fight camp that competed in the 2022 COMBATE GLOBAL ‘Exclusivos’ competition reality series.

Garcia, 33, hails from San Francisco, Calif., and is a member of Team AKA, led by trainer and former world kickboxing champion Javier Mendez, who has produced and mentored a slew of MMA champions. Garcia remains unbeaten in La Jaula, with unanimous decision victories over Mariah Castro and Katie Perez in 2023.

In a previously announced, featured matchup undefeated Michel “La Furia” Martinez (3-0) of Valencia, Spain will take on Rudisel Mora (0-1) of Miami at lightweight (155 pounds).
